- buy this jack: 3.5mm 1/8" Mini Gold Plated Female Headphone Jack Plug Stereo Audio Panel Mount
- remove the cap off the side of the hd681 with a screwdriver. Use a spudger first to pop off the cap with the hd681 logo first.
- measure the amount of wire you will need, cut the wire under the rubber tension mount and remove it.
- further trim the wire so that it is mostly in the shell.
- take the 3.5mm panel mount and file/ Dremel away at the middle of the black insulation portion of the connector on two sides. Be careful to leave enough insulation around the internal connector itself.
- the hd 681 mounting hole is oblong, when the cap are put together. File/Dremel the top and bottom of the oblong while constantly checking for fit. The goal is to get a good pressure fit.
- solder up the wires, then mount the connector on the black insulation portion with two grooves on the sides. This creates a pressure fit by inserting a round peg in a square hole... You will see what I mean
- test for a bad connection by moving a working male connector around in the female jack. Test left and right audio.
- optional : if everything works get a Bluetooth adapter and plug it into the female jack.
- portable hd681.
