Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer - DLS
c71d6ea9-7057-486b-869e-eb4e50dfa6a3.jpg

What does it look like to take a vintage design 911 and reimagine it as the ultimate air-cooled Porsche?

It looks like the DLS from Singer – the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study – one of the most sought-after 911s in existence.

Singer, the automotive restoration group headed up by Rob Dickinson and based in Los Angeles, has developed a signature style that’s all about the smallest of details, as summed up by their slogan “Everything is important”.

Those details make all the difference - a carbon fiber body, plus advanced 4-liter air-cooled engine that spins past 9000 rpm, codeveloped with Formula 1 tech courtesy of Williams Engineering. Williams is also responsible for developing the suspension and the reworked aerodynamics. The whole thing also received technical input from the mind behind the GT3 engine, Hans Mezger.

The result of all the resources and detail work that went into creating the DLS is a production run of 75 cars, worth 1.8 million dollars each.

BMW 850C Si
e89f55c8-6d9d-426a-9193-087d5680ab1b.jpg

Born out of BMW’s motorsport heritage and supplemented with then-cutting-edge technology, the 850CSi is the top-level iteration of the 8 Series. It was the first road car to offer a V12 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. That same V12 would eventually be lent to McLaren for use in the F1, the car that held the top speed record for a production vehicle for 12 years. Maybe you’ve heard of it.

The 8 Series was aimed at a high-end audience, with the 850C Si topping out at $100,000. Only 1500 models exist, as new emissions standards were put in place in the mid-90’s, and the 850C Si’s engine could not be adapted easily to meet them, so the variant was discontinued. That didn’t stop the 8 Series from becoming the most successful German V12 very made.

Mercedes AMG Hammer
abb55002-ffa6-4b4e-9abd-a02f4ceaaa60.jpg

A rare pre-partnership result of AMG tuning and engineering, the Hammer sports the body of a Mercedes 300E sedan, plus a heavily modified V8 that takes it from 0-60 in about 5 seconds, with a top speed of 178 mph. Every hot rod that has come out of Mercedes-AMG since owes a debt to the Hammer.

AMG’s record are spotty on how many of these were produced, but each was custom ordered so we know they were a rarity from the start, and they were not cheap; likely around $160,000 each.

It’s about as subtle as a hammer, but you can get one by completing the Seasonal Championship “Tree Hugger” in Spring.

Forza Horizon 4 | Series 30 Update

They are calling it a huge and very welcome update. We just dropped an all-new, game-changing mode, Hoonigan is here, and six new reward cars have arrived. Get all the details you need for Series 30 right here.

Horizon Super7
41127823-04dc-4fbb-af07-716210b1022d.jpg

Do you have what it takes to beat the Horizon Super7? This brand-new game mode deals out a hand of seven random Challenge Cards – race, drift, skill and more. Beat all seven in a row and get an exclusive reward!

The best part? Challenge Cards are created entirely by the community, featuring custom events built with some very cool tools. Thanks to Blueprint Builder, you will find props and scenery that can be added to ratchet up the difficulty. Keep an eye out for jumps, walls and uh… dinosaur teeth.

Each challenge is based around the car, tune and livery used when building the route, which means everyone else will be driving the car you used when creating the challenge. Once it’s built, it will enter the Super7 deck where it can be added to any hand of any player in the Super7. You can also share your individual challenge card via Share Code, in the Creative Hub, or on the map.

By competing and completing hands in the Super7, you have the chance to unlock some exclusive cars as well. Check them out!

Austin Seven
191f7e5d-aafa-4a5f-b484-1d5eb955e9f7.jpg

Considered one of the most important autos in British motoring history, the Seven did for commercial driving in Britain what the Ford Model T did in the US, bringing it in line with safety and regulation standards of the day, and making driving accessible and affordable for a much greater portion of the population.

It rocks a massive 10 horsepower engine that will not go 0-60, ever. It’s also the new record-holder for oldest car in Forza Horizon 4.

Unlock Tier 5 in the Horizon Super7 by reaching 42,000 influence to unlock the Austin Seven.

Triumph TR7 Roadster
7a21bac1-eceb-4e6f-9726-9614d460ccf8.jpg

You can’t miss a TR7 when it’s headed down the road. The wedge shape of the body has become nothing short of iconic for UK motorsport enthusiasts, and the legacy of the Triumph TR line as racing cars only adds to regard in which this car is held as a classic. The Roadster represents the highest-end version of that machine – featuring an open top and better engine.

Reach Tier 7 in the Horizon Super7 to unlock the Triumph TR7 Roadster.

Hoonigan Takeover

It’s not just the Bronco. Hoonigan is making this month their own. In addition to the seasonal championship “Ken Block and Roll”, you’ll also see Hoonigan items in the Forzathon shop, Hoonigan cars in the Festival playlist, and Hoonigan-themed Photo Challenges.

If you haven’t gotten enough Hoonigan yet, be sure to check out Hoonicorn Vs. The World, a Forza-inspired drag challenge that pits the Hoonicorn against comers of all shapes and sizes.

Koenigsegg Jesko
45a239b8-6bcb-4e86-aa0a-9edb766d5215.jpg

efore you ask, it’s pronounced “YES-koh”.

One of the most requested cars has made its way to the Festival and it defies expectations. This surprisingly road-legal car kicks out 1600hp when fueled with E85, utilizing the latest version of Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo 5L V8 and a nine-speed gearbox that somehow has seven clutches.

It was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show as the successor to the Agera RS named for the founder of the company’s father, Jesko von Koenigsegg. The version unveiled in Geneva features a large active rear wing and air intakes, designed to emphasize downforce to keep the car under control at ridiculously high speeds. The Jesko is a huge milestone for a company that already puts out some truly incredible hypercars – this car is intended to break the 300mph barrier, and pave the way for more accessible Koenigsegg hypercars in the future.

Complete the “Let it Snow” Seasonal Championship to get your hands on THE Koenigsegg Jesko.

Hoonigan Bronco
311ad45b-6687-4d0e-ad93-a343fee3c596.jpg

This is the Bronco that Ken Block, owner of Hoonigan Industries, rebuilt for his wife Lucy as a daily driver (and then promptly broke). As he tells it, she wanted something a little more basic, to which Ken replied “we aren’t a basic family.”

Where a 1974 Bronco would normally come with a 390 Big Block that produced around 190 horsepower, the Hoonigan version sports a 5L Coyote Engine that kicks out 420hp, plus rebuilt suspension, gear shifters, racing wheel and seats. It’s all very Hoonigan and all about being fun to drive on- or off-road.

Get Lucy Block’s Bronco by completing the Seasonal Championship “Ken Block and Roll” in Autumn.

Fiat X1/9

horsepower 1.3L engine, and can get you from point A to point B in a reasonable amount of time, which is all you can ask from a car at the end of the day, really.

Complete the Seasonal Championship “Abarth on the Heart” In the Summer to get your hands on this radical racer.

Alfa Romeo 155 Q4
52718d1b-7b8a-47e3-9deb-19c40296ff13.jpg

The 155 Q4 consistently surprises. Its unassuming exterior belies a turbocharged 2L four-wheel drive engine that produces 200 horsepower and resulted in a win in the Italian Touring Car Championship the year this model became available.

The exterior doesn’t have to be unassuming either, with a variety of body kits and exterior customization options available to ensure this looks the part of a true racing machine.

Grab a racing classic for 50% of the Spring playlist.

Forza Horizon 4 | Series 31 Update

A couple of highly requested cars make their way to the Festival to kick off 2021, setting the tone for an exciting year in Forza. Get the details now!

2020 Corvette C8
433648c0-580d-4ef9-a888-2564887abb39.jpg

How significant is it that the latest in the hallowed Corvette legacy is a mid-engine? Well it’s a fulfilment of a dream that’s been around since the 1960’s, but more so, it’s a huge evolution for one of the greatest American sports cars.

Mid-engine means less wheel spin, more control on curves, and more speed. It’s just science, and that science means this Corvette goes from 0-60 a full second faster than its predecessor, the C7. The Z51 performance package is available in-game, which means an upgrade in performance with spoiler and bumper mods.

The C8 was a gamechanger when it released IRL, and now it’s literally changing the game in Forza Horizon 4.

The C8 is available by completing the Find New Roads Seasonal Championship.

1990 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z
e5044e26-fab0-40dc-92c6-fd74d903b68e.jpg

Another highly requested car, the IROC-Z has been a mainstay of the Forza franchise for many years, so it feels pretty great to welcome this American classic to Britain.

The official car of the International Race of Champions, the rebranded Z28 Camaro boasts a 5.7L V8 that puts out around 225 hp, and 330 lbs of torque, all wrapped in an American-built front engine RWD package. By the time the 3rd generation Camaro rolled out, in 1987, its origins as a Mustang-killer were long behind it (that is, until 2010), but the 1990 model featured in-game was the last one to feature the IROC-Z branding.

Hop into this Camaro and check out some of the exciting body modifications available in-game.

Unlock the IROC-Z by completing 50% of the Winter Playlist.

1970 Honda S800
65876562-d8ff-47b5-b2e1-3bc4c74c59b0.jpg

The grandfather of the iconic S2000, and one of the earliest cars from Honda as they transitioned from motorbikes to car manufacturing, the S800 featured a 800cc in-line four motorbike engine that kicked out a whopping 70hp at 8500 RPM. Its iconic Honda styling, tiny frame and options for engine swaps make it a great option to cruise, rally or just take some really great photos.

Our friends over at Hoonigan documented an S800 build from actor Daniel Wu last year, which you can check out here.

Complete “That 70’s Championship” Series to unlock the S800.

Forza Horizon 4 | Series 32 Update

This month at the Festival, we’re celebrating an American automotive icon! Read on for the full rundown of Series 32.

GT500
42e3b23f-5a8e-4d40-a5f6-47f29b99c353.jpg

In 1965, Carroll Shelby put the Le Mans GT40 engine inside of a Mustang to create the Cobra GT350, in order to compete at the track. Fast forward to today, and we’re still feeling Shelby’s influence on the Mustang with the GT500.

It has 760hp stock via a supercharged aluminum block 5.2L V8, making it the most powerful stock Ford in history. It sports a dual clutch that shifts faster than any manual. And it’s balanced to take corners unlike any Mustang before it.

The result of all of this is unmatched speed and unmistakable Mustang style and power.

Continue the Shelby legacy with the GT500, available by completing the “Flex Your Muscle” seasonal championship.

Shelby 1000
d5d8afa1-4cd2-4948-a337-2c71565325b7.jpg

The GT500 might be the most powerful Ford when stock, but the Shelby 1000 is anything but stock. The 1000 takes a base GT500 and makes improvements to the handling, horsepower and braking, making it a track machine capable of 1000 horsepower thanks to a complete refit of the 5.4L V8, an overhaul of the exhaust and supercharger, and what has been described as some “Shelby magic” that puts the 1000 over 200 mph at top speed.

The 1000 got a limited run, and each model was numbered. A completed model comes out to around $200,000, and includes a widebody kit, new racing suspension, added cooling to make up for those 1000 horses, and refitted chassis connectors, to keep the whole thing in one piece.

Get your hands on the Shelby 1000 by completing the Seasonal Championship “Shelby Coming Round the Mountain.”

RAESR TACHYON
06390909-3bf1-4edc-8249-2f16966281ea.jpg

A “tachyon” is a theoretical particle that scientists hypothesize would travel faster than the speed of light.

The RAESR Tachyon is a 1250 horsepower EV hypercar with a jetfighter design that can reach 240mph and travel 150 miles on a single charge.

See the difference?

The Tachyon Speed features a carbon fiber body, all-wheel drive, and six direct drive electric motors that provide its horsepower. It’s incredibly light, coming in at less than 3000 lbs., and ridiculously aerodynamic, featuring an adjustable rear wing (and four front wings), plus a tandem seating design similar to a jet fighter to minimize the drag coefficient. The resulting silhouette is long, wide and low, making for a unique driving experience and the power to back it up.

The Tachyon Speed was developed by Rice Advanced Engineering Systems and Research starting back in 2012 with the goal of bringing the ultimate performance in EV hypercars to low volume production.

You can get the Tachyon Speed by completing 50% of the seasonal playlist in Autumn.

PEUGEOT 207 S2000
bce34a29-2c57-4972-8cf2-0d9e643224d9.jpg

Making its triumphant rally return to Forza, after not being seen since Forza Motorsport 2, the S2000 is a variant of the 207 developed to complete in Super 2000 rally racing. If you’re unfamiliar, Super 2000 is the budget-friendly spec for WRC and other rally championships that feature 2L naturally-aspirated engines.

The 207 S2000 has an impressive pedigree as the winning car in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 2007-2009.

You can get your hands on this rally machine by completing the Seasonal Championship “Forest Monster.”

Jogo no Series S.

Depois que Playnground migrou o suporte do jogo para a Panic Button, eu estou achando ele mais bugado, o jeito e esperar mesmo para ver se eles se acertam com as ferramentas de desenvolvimento.

Porsche 356 Outlaw RSR by Emory Motorsports

Emory Motorsports has built and cared for some of the most unique and iconic Porsche models in history. You can already find their handiwork in Forza Horizon 4 thanks to the 356 C Cabriolet Emory Special.

They are responsible for the “Outlaw” line of custom build Porsche 356s, and at the top end of that line, you’ll find the Porsche 356 RS line. Taking the best bits from the 1990s-era 964 and 356 of the 50’s, every RS is rebuilt by hand and restored to better-than-factory-new. Each comes standard with the custom Emory-Rothsport Outlaw-4 engine, improved handling and suspension compared to their parent cars, and an aesthetic that can only be described as “extreme”.

Now, if the RS line is the top end of the Outlaw family, the RSR is the top of the top. Rod Emory’s custom RS Outlaw 356 represents the absolute height of the Emory design philosophy. The car embodies Emory’s answer to the question - if Porsche had continued to develop the 356 as a competition car, what would it have looked like?

It starts at the wheels. Emory says that much of the design work for the RSR emerged out of the custom five-spoke wheel, the MOMO Heritage 5, inspired by the ones found on late 70’s Porsche 935s. From there came the namesake – the RSR designation, courtesy of the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR (and evident as an influence in the Emory RSR’s interior). The chassis started its life as a barn-find 1960 Porsche 356B Coupe married to a 1990 964. And it’s all powered by twin turbos on an Emory-Rothsport custom 2.4L.

The Emory Porsche 356 Outlaw RSR is infused with the legacy of Porsche in every aspect of its design and execution, yet it has a look and feel that is singular and thrilling.

1968 Pontiac Firebird

The Firebird 400 was the flagship of Pontiac’s “Magnificent Five” Firebird model options in 1968. Named for its 400 cu. in, 325hp W66 engine (borrowed from the GTO), the Firebird 400 was 1968’s iteration of Pontiac’s answer to its GM cousin the Camaro, courtesy of designer John DeLorean (!!!).

The Firebird started its life under DeLorean as a Pontiac version of the Corvette, before being shuttered and retooled as a mirror of the Camaro. DeLorean saw what he believed to be shortcomings in the Camaro’s design, and set out to correct them in the Firebird, which shared the Camaro’s F-body platform, but was set lower to the ground with a more racing-centric stance. It also has a longer nose (about five inches), integrated bumper, and split grill to bring it more in line with the Pontiac sensibility. Changes to its chassis and suspension separated it from the Camaro, and in some enthusiasts’ eyes, elevated it above its more popular counterpart.

The car was designed and built on an abbreviated timetable originally under the name Banshee before adopting the title of a concept car from 1954, the Firebird 1. It lasted for three model years before being redesigned, making the 1968 model a rarity and a prize for classic muscle car fans.

Forza Horizon 4 | Series 35 Update

There’s lots of variety in this month’s new reward cars! We’ll get into them in greater detail below, but first did you solve Torben Tuesday this month?

· Clue #1: The “G” is styled like the logo for the classic tv show Gladiators, for the Jeep Gladiator.

· Clue #2: A diagram of a hydropneumatic suspension system, for the Citroen DS 23.

· Clue #3: A front-engine car, rather than rear-engine, for the Porsche 928 GTS.

Now without further ado, let's dive into what these cars are all about.

Jeep Gladiator

A pickup truck. An off-road SUV. A Jeep with the suspension of a Dodge Ram. The Gladiator is one of a kind.

A longer wheelbase and wider track mean that this doesn’t feel like a typical Jeep Wrangler, either on or off the road, and is intended to be more capable and stable. It wasn’t designed to simply be a Wrangler with a bed, but specifically to stand on its own as a pickup and off-road vehicle.

Fun fact: this is not the first Jeep to bear the name Gladiator. Back in 1962, Jeep released a full-sized truck alternatively named the Gladiator, the Jeep Pickup, or simply the J-Series. This particular model was the basis for various military vehicles in the post-war era of the 1960s, when the idea of cost savings meant starting from a civilian truck and adapting it to fit the military’s needs, such as ambulances. This new pickup bears little resemblance, save for adopting the name.

Citroën DS23

Since its inception, the DS has been a car out of time. It pioneered new driving technologies and features to become the most innovative and unusual car ever designed. It influenced the look of “futuristic” cars and technology in sci-fi media for decades, and other competitors took years and years to adopt some of the standards set by Citroën with the DS.

A number of new driving technologies have their origins in the DS line. Among these were the hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system, which used a combination of liquid hydraulic and gas-pressured suspension, rather than springs, to give the DS an exceedingly comfortable and smooth ride on smooth roads or rougher terrain. It also made changing tires a breeze without the need of a jack to raise the car; the suspension system will raise up the wheels to take weight off the flat tire, which can then be easily removed.

Additionally, the DS was the first production car to use disc brakes, which were much more efficient at dispelling heat, and therefore more effective, than the drum brakes they replaced. These were coupled with a braking pedal that was more of a button, which was intended to better transfer energy from the foot to the brakes using the car’s advanced hydraulic system, without energy lost depressing the pedal before the brakes actually engaged.

Add on a fiberglass roof, power steering, a semi-automatic transmission, turn signal lights placed high on the car’s body, and pivoting headlights tied to the steering wheel, and there’s a reason the DS is one of the most popular and beloved cars in French automotive history. In fact, it set the record for most preorders at launch, which it held until the Tesla Model 3 in 2016.

Outside of the world of Forza, you can catch the DS in action in The Day of the Jackal (1973), a classic thriller film that retells the true story of an assassination attempt on French president Charles De Gaulle. The attempt failed, largely thanks to the superior design and build of the DS. As a result, De Gaulle swore to never drive in any car but a Citroën. He even defended it from being purchased by Italian automaker Fiat in 1969.

Porsche 928 GTS

In the late 1970s, Porsche sensed a change in the wind. There was a global oil crisis, a suspicion that the flagship 911 was reaching the upper limits of its popularity, and a fear of looming legislation from the US government banning rear-engine vehicles in response to safety concerns about the Chevy Corvair.

What they needed was a grand tourer, totally fresh in its design and powertrain, that would appeal to the luxury sedan market in a way the compact, loud, sporty 911 never could. The result was the first Porsche design not derived from previous work – the 928. The 356 came from the Beetle, the 911 came from the 356, and the 912 and 924 originally came from designs by Volkswagen, but the 928 was its own thing: Porsche’s first front-engine V8.

The result was slow to sell, as Porsche purists saw it as a betrayal, and its target market balked at the price tag. But over time, it developed a following, as well as a number of trim packages such as the GTS (which was US-only). Only 407 of these were made, and they included wider wheel arches (for larger tires) and the largest V8 the model had sported to date (350 hp).

The 1993 model was one of the last; the model would cease production in 1995.
