Creative Showcase: Mission Recon3D - HardwareZone.com
There are seven I/O slots in all, including a 3.5mm headphone outlet armed with a higher amplification signal
(capable of driving up to 600 ohms) as well as three line-outs designed for 5.1-channel desktop speakers.

i thought Creative made an error advertising this Recond 3d $99 dollar version with 600ohm impedence but its true.
i think my 32ohm headphones are about to explode with just 25% volume, need to be carefull until i get my new headphones.
voice chat programs work really well with this sound card, everything sounds much cleaner and stable than the Titanium HD

The effect is surprising; typically we’ve played our console games via headphones or the two channel speakers on a TV,
but the difference was staggering when using the Recon3D. We’ve never heard games on the Xbox 360 or PS3 sound so good, with a real feeling of immersion from the audio. While a 5.1 set-up is superior still, for those who take their Halo 3 or Call of Duty with a side of headset, it makes a huge difference.

Just tried Recon mode and its pretty amazing, it really takes out the footsteps and weapon sounds and makes them louder. This is also true for your own foosteps so until your not Ninja this does not make much sens. Not sure if I like it but its not bad at all!
After playing some more now this is just enough to drive 250 Ohm, dont need it louder. Any gaming headset crap from turtle to Astro will work fine as they are 50 and less.

It supports both PS3 and 360 and was easy to hook up:
PS3 > optical cable + USB cable > Recon3D > console extension cable > AD700 + Zalman clip mic
All cables included.
It takes the Dolby Digital 5.1 stream and mixes it with "THX TruSurround Pro" to give virtual surround sound over normal headphones.
On BF3, the sound is quite incredible:
- Didn't know a rap song plays when Caspian Border loads
- When the antenna tower collapses in Caspian, you can hear the cables go "TWANG" as if you were there
- Gameplay voice is extremely clear and positionally perfect. When you throw a nade and the enemy shouts, you can "hear" their direction and distance
- Explosions and bullet sounds are crisp and without distortion
- Positional sound of vehicles is quite special, you can easily place choppers/jets/tanks
